My Newest Adventure- The Beach Bum Lifestyle Program

For those of you who follow me on Instagram (@swimeatlove), I announced a couple of weeks ago that I had joined the Beach Bum Lifestyle Program team as their newest ambassador. After discovering their Instagram account and website, I immediately fell in love. I was amazed at how similar their goals and passions are to mine. The BB Program isn’t a crash course on dieting or a 10 day fix to get your ideal body, but it truly is a community of amazing, inspiring ladies who are all striving to become the best versions of themselves they can possible be.

The Beach Bum Mission:

“You’ve tried every cleanse, fitness, and nutrition program out there and have come up short in being able to maintain your results. Look no further babe, we’ve got you covered! We’re here to provide you with the tools you need to feel and look your best for life! Re-energize, get fit, show yourself so much love, and stay accountable… in a way that feels easy, and oh-so-good!
This program encompasses the nutrition, beauty, friendship, inspiration, joy, and all of the things that give you an unmistakable glow!”

Looking to take what I do to the next level, I thought that joining the team would be the perfect next step. With my goal to inspire and motivate as many people as possible to live a happier and healthier life, I felt that Beach Bum gave me the perfect platform to connect with so many more amazing people. As time goes on, I hope working with Beach Bum gives me the platform to reach out and connect with so many different people.

One of the cool parts about this program is their partnership with Usana. Usana makes everything from shakes and supplements, to an amazing skincare line (Celavie). I’ve started on the Beach Bum Kit, consisting of cellsentials (supplements) and their Nutrimeal shakes, along with the Celavie skincare products. I have loved everything about using the products and the way it makes me feel. It’s a great way to supplement the life I am living.

If you are interested in being part of the Beach Bum program/community or are interesting in trying out some of the Usana products, please feel free to reach out to me however you feel comfortable. And if you are looking to do some shopping online by yourself, save 10% by using the code: aime10. I’m excited to begin this new, crazy adventure and look forward to sharing more with you as time goes on.

Dorm Room Food Staples

For today’s post, I thought I would just share the list of food items that I always have in my dorm room. One of the scariest things about coming to college (at least for me) was that I was going to get sucked in to the late night pizza orders and junk food eating habits of college life. To combat this, I always make sure I have these items on hand to grab whenever I want a healthy snack (at any time of the day). I hope you find this helpful, and if you have any other ideas/staples, share them in the comments below! I’ll try to find links to as many of these as I can.

Food Staples:

New Year, Same Me

One of the best things about 2017, for me, was that it was a year of discovery in many ways. I learned so much about myself, the people around me, the places I love and the world in general. With so many huge milestones happening this year, it would be hard not to stumble upon new discoveries. Usually at the beginning of every year I write my new years resolutions, typically revolving around school and swimming. This year when trying to write them, I found it particularly hard to think of anything. I starting reflecting on the past year and everything that had happened and I had learned. Instead of writing resolutions for the year, I decided to write myself vows, vows that I know have been created out of the experiences I’ve had over the past couple of years. My vows for the year represent who I am as a person and all the things I hold near and dear to my heart.

With lots of new and exciting content coming to the blog this year, I thought a perfect way to start is to share some of my vows for the year with you all. What are some of your resolutions/vows/goals for the year? Let’s share them in the comments below!

My Vows

1. I vow to put my family above everything else. After leaving home for college this year, I realized that there is absolutely nothing that is more important to me than the close bond I have with my family.

2. I vow to love myself and my body no matter what and to appreciate all the things my body allows me to do . After dealing with many years of body image struggles, I feel like 2017 was the first full year where I never looked in the mirror and thought I was fat or felt the need to suck my stomach in while wearing a bikini. It also happened to be the happiest I’ve ever been in my life.

3. I vow to allow myself to try new things, even if it seems scary. If there was a theme to this year, it would be trying new things. I’m going to be completely honest, most of the new things I tried were terrifying at first (ie. leaving home for the first time), but they also ended up being some of the best parts of the year.

4. I vow to become an adventurer of the world as best as I can. One of my biggest passions is traveling, and I was lucky enough to travel to two new countries (New Zealand and Korea) last year that I absolutely fell in love with. I hope that I can add another new country to the list this year. But beyond traveling to new countries, I vow to allow myself to explore the areas around me, whether it’s in Singapore, LA, or Tokyo, and to appreciate all the natural beauty of the world.

5. I vow to treat my body and mind as a temple, but in a balanced and healthy way. Of course I love working out, staying fit and eating healthy, but I also love skipping a day at the gym or pool to go explore a new city with my family and to eat food I love (even if it’s not the healthiest). I felt like 2017 was the most balanced year I have had. I focused on my health and fitness every single day, but also allowed myself to take a break if I felt like I needed it.

6. I vow to open myself up to new hobbies and passions. I had an amazing moment earlier this year where I discovered what I felt my life purpose was. That moment only came from allowing myself to try and find new things I was passionate about. I vow to allow myself room to try new things that I have an interest in, knowing full well that I may fail.

7. My last vow is to allow myself to be 100% real, authentic and honest on my blog and Instagram. This is something that I learned to do over the past 6 months, and it has been amazing. It’s not easy to be out on social media sharing personal information about your life and struggles, but I think it’s important for all of us to show our true selves every day on every platform. My whole goal through my blog and Instagram is to inspire others to be healthier, happier and laugh a little more. I have been amazed at the responses and messages I get to my posts, it’s what keeps me going every single day and I vow to keep that up as best as I can through this year.

I just wanted to end this by saying how extremely grateful I am to all of you for reading my posts and following along on my life adventures. This blog and Instagram have quickly become one of my biggest passions and I am so thankful for that!

Top 10 Moments of 2017

As the 2017 year comes to a close, I wanted to stop and reflect on the year that has passed. While there is so much hate and negativity going around in the world, when you stop to think about life, you really only remember the good things. Just like anyone, my year had ups and downs, but at this time I am realizing how small and trivial the downs were, and how uplifting and exciting the ups were. These are my top ten moments (in chronological order) of 2017. I hope this inspires you all to think back on your year to remember all the amazing times.

1. February 2017- The last meet of varsity high school swim career was everything and more that I could have asked for. I was the captain of the team and we were in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for our conference championships. We had all trained super hard the whole season and were excited to see what we could do as a team. To be honest, I was not confident that we would be able to pull out a win, simply because we had a fairly young and new team. The gold medal came down to the very last relay, in which I was swimming. All we had to do was beat one relay team to snag the championship. As nerve-wracking as it was, it was the most amazing race of my life, full of nothing but excitement and adrenaline. As the anchor of our team touched the wall ahead of the other team, we broke out in tears of immense joy. The absolute highlight of my high school swimming career.

2. February 2017- I always knew that I wanted to travel to New Zealand before I graduated high school, and I got the opportunity to visit the beautiful country on a school trip in February. We spent 8 days doing everything from hiking, camping, luging, white water rafting, and visiting and staying in traditional Maori housing. It was a beyond incredible experience (though I have to admit, mentally challenging at times, especially during the hiking) and I am so lucky to have visited the country. I hope I can visit this amazing country again soon!

3. March 2017- One of my favorite parts about living in South East Asia is being able to travel around easily at a fairly low cost. At least once a year, my family goes on a quick vacation to a SEA beach destination. This year we went back to Phuket, Thailand for spring break and stayed at the Meridien. As usual, the beach was clean and beautiful, perfect for a little getaway. We spent our days lounging on the sand and spent our evenings exploring restaurants throughout the town. This five day trip with my family definitely made it into the top ten moments of this year.

4. June 2017- Of course one of the highlights of this year was this milestone, Graduation! It was a crazy and hectic time of the year, but I was so unbelievably lucky to have so many family and friends around me to celebrate. I was one of those people who just loved high school, so this moment was sad as I was saying goodbye to so many people and places, but also exciting as I started a new journey.

5. July 2017- Instead of coming back to the US for the summer (like we normally do), my family stayed in Asia and I was able to travel around a bit. My mom had a business trip to Seoul, and since I had never been I decided to tag along. Although we were only there for 3 days, we saw and did so much. From exploring the local malls to going to the Korean spa and eating lots of yummy Korean food, it was a blast.

6. July 2017- Every summer my family and I go to our lake cabin in Northern Japan for a few weeks to hang and spend time with family. Last year, we discovered what I like to call a hidden gem of the Tokyo area, Karuizawa. Mainly known for it’s outlet shopping mall, the beautiful suburb is filled with secret spots that are amazing. This year we took a day off from lake life and spent the day shopping, going to the hot springs, and visiting the cutest little vintage shops. Definitely a day well spent.

7. July 2017- Although this was an extremely sad time, it was also a very memorable time. After 18 years of living in Singapore, it was time for me to say goodbye (more like see you soon!) to my beautiful little island. As most of you probably know, I have so much love in my heart for this country. It was fun for me to spend time really appreciating all the things I love about Singapore and doing a little bit of exploring at home. The last week spend at home was full of family, friends, laughs and of course some Din Tai Fung and a Tiger beer for the road:)

8. August 2017- One of my biggest dreams came true this year not only as I started college in LA, but also as I began my career as a collegiate athlete. There have been so many “pinch me” moments these last few months as I’ve experienced things I’ve never dreamed of doing. From my first collegiate swim practice and swim meet to living the LA life, college has been everything and more I ever wished for.

9. October 2017- While being away from home was hard, I was lucky enough to have my dad visit me for a week in early October. We spent the weekend hanging around Downtown LA and Santa Monica, eating to our hearts content. As a foodie, it was a much needed break from the college food scene (though I have to admit, our school has really good food). We found amazing eateries everywhere from Santa Monica Boulevard to Sunset. It was such a fun weekend with my dad, and I was lucky to have him with me.

10. December 2017- After the first semester in college, it was so nice to be home with my family for the holidays. I had counted down the days, and it was definitely one of the best holiday seasons yet. I was lucky to have 2 1/2 weeks at home and spent so much of that time with my mom, dad, little sister and doggy. There was lot’s of Christmas shopping, yummy food, cooking, cheers-ing and laughter. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to end the year.

Here’s to an amazing 2017 and an even better 2018!

Happy new year!

#fitgirllife- Eating Clean in College

One of my biggest fears going into college was food. Not necessarily how good it was going to be (though that was something this foodie worried about), but how hard it was going to be to eat healthy. I had heard so much about “freshman 15” and seen so many friends come back from their first year having gained a lot of weight. Once I got to college, I scoped out the food situation and quickly figured out how to eat healthy and clean. I wrote down everything I ate for 3 days, and have it all down below for you to reference. Please keep in mind that on all three of these days, I had 3- 3 1/2 hours of hard workouts, so the calories (though I don’t count them) and quantity may seem a little high. I hope this helps and gives you some ideas about how to eat healthy in college!

JOLYN

There is only one word in the swimming world that is synonymous with joy, pride, honor, and thrill. And no, it’s not 200 fly, it’s JOLYN. For the past few years, Jolyn’s have taken the swimming and water sports scene by storm. Speaking from my experience, the number of my teammates that wear Jolyn’s have grown exponentially, even in the last year. It’s become a way for our team to bond. From “twinning” pics to team orders, Jolyn has creating a strong sense of team. Whether it’s the bright colorful patterns, the unique styles of the suits, or even just the small black logo, it’s something that has proven (time and time again) to be much more than just another brand of swimsuit. I can personally say that neither my sister or I have bought a non-Jolyn swimsuit in the last two years.

Not only are Jolyn’s absolutely beautiful to look at (I may have found true love:), they are amazing suits for swimming, training, and all water sports. With both the one pieces and (some) two pieces having adjustable tie-backs, the sizes are flexible and the suits stay up. I have used Jolyn’s for everything; from swim practice to weight training, and from beach bumming to playing a beach game. And never have a suffered from a wardrobe malfunction (if you know what I mean). From training one-pieces to beach bikinis, it’s the only place I ever want to shop.

So if I haven’t already convinced you that Jolyn’s are the best, I took some photos of me, my sister and a friend in our Jolyn’s, to show you what we really mean. I will link as many links as possible down below, and please let me know in the comments if you want more information on sizing!
