12 Days of Christmas|Day 6- Holiday Pamper Routine |2018

Hello lovelies and happy Day 6! The holiday chaos getting to your head, finals driving you crazy or just in need of a Tuesday night recharge sesh by yourself, I’ve got you covered! Today’s post is my current pamper routine. I’ve done quite I few pamper routines in the past (I honestly just love writing these and reading other people’s, and who doesn’t love a little self-care), but this one is my official 2018 Holiday Pamper Routine, full of products I’m loving that will get you in the true holiday spirit.

 

I always start off by changing into some cozy Christmas PJs or a nice fluffy robe, really anything as long as I’m comfy. Before I start anything else I’ll try to set the mood in my room. I love scents so I’ll either use my diffuser with lavender and citrus essential oils or I’ll burn one of my favorite candles which is Champagne Toast from Bath and Body Works. And of course I’ll turn off the main lights and throw on some fairy lights. After my room’s feeling nice and relaxed, I’ll go use my MakeUp Eraser (I’m so obsessed with this right now) to take all my makeup off and then hop in the shower. I talked about these in my last pamper routine too, but I’ve been loving the Herbal Essence Argan Oil shampoo and conditioner for my hair, especially during the drier winter months. If I’m feeling like I really need it, I’ll also do a treatment using either the Briogeo deep conditioning mask or the Moroccan Gold Series treatment mask. I’ll then go ahead and use a good body scrub everywhere (it’s winter, we all have dead skin cells) and shave using the Eos shaving cream. After I shave I make sure to moisturize right away. I bought the C. Booth coconut fig body lotion over Thanksgiving and have been living for it.

If I’m at home and have my beloved bath tub I’ll take a bath after I’m done showering. I’m ridiculously obsessed with bath bombs, so of course I’ll use one of those. I absolutely love all the Lush Christmas bath bombs, so those are always a good go-to, but I also found these really cute Christmas ones from The Body Shop (so freaking affordable!) which I really want to try when I’m home for Christmas. When I’m in the bath, which I could literally sit in for hours, I’ll make sure the lights are off and have some chill show or vlog playing. If I’m really wanting to treat myself, I’ll also light a bunch of candles to really set the mood. And if you’re really really wanting to treat yourself, pour yourself a nice lil glass of wine (if your of age of course), because you deserve it;)

After I’m done in the shower (or out of the bath), I’ll dry my hair super quick with a towel and put my PJs or robe back on. During the winter my hair gets brittle and dry really easily, so I use both the Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine leave-in conditioner and the argan oil from Marrakesh Oil. If I have something to get dressed up for the next day, I’ll straighten my hair. But more often than not I just let it air dry.

Now it’s facial time! I’ll start by washing my face with either the Grown Alchemist polishing facial exfoliant or the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate. During the winter my skin can get really dry and flaky (as it does for a lot of people), so it’s really important to use a good exfoliator to get rid of all the dead skin cells and prep your skin for a face mask. On a real pamper night I’ll usually use two face masks, one purifying and one hydrating just to make sure I’m not drying out my skin too much. For the first mask I love the Indian Healing Clay with apple cider vinegar or the CVS dead sea mineral face mask. If you’re looking for a more luxurious mask, the Boscia Charcoal mask or the Glam Glow Bubblesheet are also amazing. I’ll leave that mask on for about 12-15 minutes and then wash it off/take it off. For the hydrating mask I have a ton of different Korean sheet masks that I’ll usually choose from, but I also found these really cute Christmas hydrating sheet masks at CVS which I think are perfect for a holiday pamper night. I typically leave sheet masks on for about 20 minutes so while I have that on I’ll put on either a Christmas movie (check my last 12 Days post for my fav holiday movies) or some vlogmas. Since it wouldn’t be Christmas without peppermint hot chocolate, I’ll make myself a cup of that, and maybe even top it off with some peppermint whipped cream if I’m feeling extra special.  And of course I’d make sure it’s in a cute Christmas mug.

After I take off the second mask I’ll go in with the rest of my evening skincare routine. During the winter I use heavier moisturizers, especially in the evening. I start with the Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizing lotion and go over that with the Tarte Maracuja Oil. If my skin is super dry, it usually soaks that all up within a few minutes, so in cases like that I’ll go in with another layer of the oil. I personally am not a huge fan of sleep masks, but I do love the Ahava Sleep Cream for an overnight facial. Another thing I’ve started using lately are under-eye masks because let’s be honest life can be super stressful and cause bags and circles under your eyes (I’ve started getting them and I feel like a Grandma now). But they honestly just feel so good and refreshing too.

Now that I’m feeling all clean and relaxed I’ll usually end the night in cuddled up in bed finishing off a Christmas movie or watching more vlogmas. I love spending nights out with friends, but sometimes a quiet night in taking care of yourself is just what you need (and trust me, everyone needs this once in a while).

College Evening Pamper Routine

It’s mid-term season! It’s flu season! It’s s t r e s s season! It is getting to the craziest time of the year, the temperature is going down, work and tests are piling up and everyone is getting sick. Today’s post is going to be my college evening pamper routine to give you a little self-love time in the midst of all the chaos. I’ve also thrown in a few things to help boost your immune system to try and avoid all of those nasty sicknesses going around. This can be done by yourself for some me-time, or with your friend(s) for a fun girls night in! **I’ll try and leave as many links below!**

I always start by throwing up a plush robe (or some comfy clothes) and take my makeup off. I’ve been loving the Sephora Charcoal Micellar Water for my makeup. Then I’ll begin to set the mood in my room. I’ll throw on my fairy lights and lanterns and I’ll let my diffuser start running. I’ve been using the Iextreme Essential Oil Diffuser that I got on Amazon for only $10, and it’s amazing. It has 8 different LED colors to choose from, which is actually my favorite thing ever. At night, my favorite oils to diffuse are the Young Living Lavender and Orange essential oils.

After my room is looking and smelling good, I’ll go and take a long hot shower (I MISS MY BATH TUB!). I’ll usually do the full thing, hair mask, shave… on these kind of nights. To wash my hair, I’ve been loving the Herbal Essence Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner, it leaves your hair super soft and smooth and smells incredible. I’ll then go in with the Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask. I got this in my FabFitFun box and have been obsessed with it ever since. While I let that sit for 15 minutes, I use the Eos Ultra Moisture shaving cream in pomegranate-raspberry to shave my legs and get them all nice and smooth. For my face, I’ve been loving the Grown Alchemist Polishing Facial Exfoliant with pink grapefruit. I also got this in my last FabFitFun box and I cannot begin to express how much I love this. The smell immediately transports me to a spa and the fine beads exfoliate your face so gently while still getting all the gunk off. It’s AMAZING!

Once I’m all done in there, I’ll get back into my robe and put my hair up in a hair wrap to get it out of the way. My next step is to do a face mask. If I’m really feeling it, I’ll go to to the extreme and do two masks, one clay and one hydrating. My two favorite clay masks are the Indian Healing Clay and the CVS Dead Sea Mineral Anti-Stress mask. Both of these do a really good job of extracting all the gross gunk from your skin and pores without over-drying your skin (they both do leave your skin red for a few minutes, and that’s just because of the increased blood flow to your face). My favorite hydrating mask right now is either the Smoothing Radiance Mask from Filorga or the sheet masks from Innis Free. While I have my face masks on, I’ll cuddle up in bed and put on something super fun and easy to watch on Netflix. I’ve been loving The Good Place and The Great British Bake Off recently, they’re both so good but also ADDICTIVE.

When I’m doing a full pamper night, I try to make sure I’m not just taking care of my outside, but also taking care of my insides. I love lemon water all the time, but it makes me feel super refreshed and cleansed during a night like this. Lemon is a detoxifying and digestive agent and can help to increase your metabolic rate. I also try to eat super clean, so I’ll do a lot of apples, carrots, or celery with peanut butter or a light salad, and then maybe some dark chocolate or strawberries if I’m craving something sweet. Another healthy snack I’ve been obsessed with is the Coconut Sesame Clusters from Trader Joe’s, they’re so addictive it’s crazy.

After I’m all done with my face masks I’ll start my evening skincare routine. I use the Celavive Perfecting Toner all over my face with a cotton ball to start, then I go in with the Clinque Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion and either the Tarte Maracuja Oil or the Tarte Drink of H2O Hydrating Boost Moisturizer on top of that. My holy grail products for any zits or breakouts it Lavender Oil. I put a tiny bit on right before I go to sleep and the next morning it’s like nothing was there, seriously, it’s that amazing.

Another thing I like to do before going to sleep on a pamper night is to get my stuff ready for the next morning. I just spend a few minutes going through my planner (this year I’m using the Kate Spade Things We Love Planner and it’s my favorite thing ever) and checking off everything I’ve done that day and also getting all my stuff ready for my first class the next day. It puts me at ease knowing that I can just wake up in the morning and everything will be ready to go. The last thing I do before going to bed is to use an app to do a quick meditation. I’ve been juggling between Head Space, Calm, Simple Habit and Insight Timer, but honestly haven’t found my favorite yet, but I do like spending just 5-10 minutes to wind my mind down, and I have found that I tend to sleep so much better on nights when I spend time doing this.

And then it’s lights out and time to SLEEP!

Summer Pamper Routine

One of my favorite things to do on a chill summer evening is to get a little pampering done. After spending the whole day out in the sun or in the water, it’s nice to have a little “me time” to relax and unwind. I have a bunch of new products that I have been absolutely loving lately, so I’m really excited to share them with you!

I always start a good pamper sesh by getting nice and clean in the shower. I like using the Hello Hydration Herbal Essence shampoo and conditioner which is filled with creamy coconut. Not only does it leave my hair feeling healthy and silky, it’s also the epitome of summer smells. I then go in with my Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! deep conditioning hair mask. I first got this product in my FabFitFun box and instantly fell in love with it. While I leave the mask in my hair, I’ll use the Eos Shea Butter Shaving Cream to get my legs all nice and smooth. Another products I got in my FabFitFun box that I love is the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate cleanser, so I’ll use that on my face. Once I’m done with all that, I’ll either sit in the bath with a Lush bath bomb for a little bit (if it’s a cooler day), or get out and get dry. If I do take a bath, I’ll either listen to a podcast or watch some YouTube. At the moment my favorite podcasts are Almost Famous with Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti, and Jonathan Van Ness’ Getting Curious. My favorites to watch on YouTube are Zoella and her vlogs, Kelly Strack and Jess and Gabriel vlogs.

Once I’m out and in some comfy clothes, I like to run the Garnier Fructis sleek and shine leave-in conditioner and the Marc Anthony Coconut Oil and Shea Butter Oil through my hair to give it some extra shine. If it’s really dry, I’ll add the Marrakesh Argan Oil to that routine. I then use either the Jergens Ultra Healing Moisturizer or the Bath and Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom lotion all over my arms and legs. After that, I’ll put on a face mask of some sort. If I want to clean out my pores, I’ll use some Indian Healing Clay mixed with apple cider vinegar, and if I want to hydrate I’ll use the Neutrogena Hydro Boost sheet mask. To moisturize my face, I use my Celavive Vilatizing Serum and the Tarte Maracuja Oil.

One of my favorite things to do anytime of the year is to give myself a nice little mani-pedi. I usually have my nails done already, so I start by taking off the polish and cleaning/cutting my nails to get them prepped. During summer months I love doing pastel yellows and blues, bright pinks and whites on my nails (I almost always use OPI). If I’m going to go the extra mile, I’ll head out and treat myself to a real mani-pedi from a nail salon.

Another way I feel super pampered is by eating and drinking really clean. If I’m going to detox my outside, I also want to give my insides a little detox. In the summer I love drinking super icy water with lemon; it helps me feel fresh and clean. I also love Mugicha, which is a Japanese barley tea (not caffeinated) which is really refreshing. Another must have for the summer months is a lot of fresh fruit. I eat an endless amount of watermelon, peaches, cherries and lots of berries which always makes me feel like I’m cleaning out my insides. Salads are another favorite for a light dinner.

Pamper Night Routine

One of my favorite things to do on the weekends is to have a pamper night. With crazy and hectic lives and schedules, sometimes it’s nice to just unplug and #treatyourself. I will link everything I use throughout this routine at the end of this post!

  1. I start by changing into comfy clothes, taking off all my make-up (currently using Garnier’s micellar cleansing water) and washing my face. I also like to “unplug” so I try to stay away from social media for the night.
  2. When I have one of these nights I make sure that I’m pampering the inside of my body just as much as my outside, so I try to make myself a healthy dinner (typically some pasta loaded with veggies and a huge glass of ice lemon water or unsweetened iced tea).
  3. With my dinner, I plop down on the couch and watch a couple episodes of a fun TV show (my go-to’s are Friends, Full/Fuller House, Modern Family and Young & Hungry).
  4. After I’m done eating, I head into the bathroom to get everything set up. I’m a lush fanatic, so I fill up the bath and pop a bath bomb (favorites are intergalactic and sex bomb) and half a bubble bar in. I also light some candles (Bath & Body Works!!) and turn down the lights. Right before I get in, I will put on my first face-mask of the night. While I’m chilling in the bubbles, I put on my favorite YouTubers. If I’m doing this during the holiday season, I’ll have a hot chocolate or a chai tea latte, but other than that I have an iced tea (because I live in the tropics and it’s hot!).
  5. Once I get out of the bath, I put on comfy PJ’s or a fluffy bath robe and take off my face mask and put another on one (I always do a cleansing mask and then a hydrating mask).
  6. I then head to my room and turn on my fairy lights and pineapple lamps and spritz my favorite room scents. If I want something to snack on, I’ll grab some fruit, but other than that I just keep drinking water. I also make sure to keep my skin hydrated, so I wash off my mask, and put lotion all over my face and body.
  7. One thing I really try to do on these nights is to meditate. I found this amazing app called InSight Timer, and it basically walks you through a meditation. I always find that I sleep so much better and feel super calm when I do this.
  8. And then finally, I crawl into bed and watch a little more YouTube before I get a good night of beauty sleep.
